In the spring, starting about the 26th of March and running well
into April, visitors come to Charleston, SC to see the azaleas in
bloom. It is truely a beautiful sight. Many of the irises and
daylilies are still in bloom and the dogwoods and wisteria are
heavy with blooms, but none as beautiful as the azaleas. Although
do be warned, that is the optimal time for the biting sand gnat,
known to many visitors as the ungodly no-see-um.
