What are the four major guilt groups according to the comic strip 'Cathy'? Cathy has said that the four major guilt groups are food, love, career and mothers. Cathy's creator, Cathy Guisewite, celebrates her 60th birthday today. Last month she announced that the final Cathy strip will run in newspapers on Sunday, October 3. According to an AP article, after producing the comic strip for 34 years, Guisewite wants to channel her creativity elsewhere. She also looks forward to spending more time with her family. Cathy's story line was often based on events and mishaps in Guisewite's own life. She has said that the relationship between comic strip Cathy and her mother is taken straight from Guisewite's relationship with her own mother. Comic strip Cathy's mother always had a current copy of Bride magazine in her purse; Guisewite's mother began collecting wedding silver for her daughter when Guisewite was just a baby.
