"Lick and a Promise" is a song by American hard rock band Aerosmith first appearing on their album Rocks. Clocking in at 3:05, it is the album's shortest song. It was written by Joe Perry and Steven Tyler. About the song's lyrical content, Steven Tyler said "(This song) is just about going out there and winning an audience."
The song is also featured on the band's 1988 deep cut compilation Gems, 1989 VHS Live Texxas Jam '78, and 1991 box-set Pandora's Box. Stone Temple Pilots have covered it live.
