A genus of plants from the Americas in the Asteraceae (Compositae) family. Sesquiterpenes have been identified in some species, but the toxin originates from Myrothecium spp., fungi associated with the roots. Signs include stiffness, trembling, convulsions; lesions include rumenitis, enteritis. Toxic species include B. cordifolia, B. dranunculifolia, glomeruliflora, B. halimifolia, B. megapotamica, B. pteronioides, B. ramulosa.
