Baudelaire

Did you mean: Baudelaire (ballet), Charles Baudelaire (French poet & critic), Baudelaire (surname), Baudelaire family

A dance spectacle in nine scenes based on the poems of Baudelaire, directed by Maurice Béjart, who adapted the text, did the choreography, and organized the musical montage. Premiered 9 Feb. 1968 by the Ballet of the 20th Century at Grenoble, with Michel Bringuies, Bortoluzzi, Donn, Lowski, Lommel, Albrecht, Bari, Gielgud, and Kerendi. Béjart incorporated songs by Debussy and excerpts from Wagner's Tannhäuser in this mammoth work, which sets out to draw a parallel between Baudelaire's paradises and the drug-induced psychedelic experiences of hippies.
