BioFuel Energy has climbed aboard the ethanol bandwagon. Construction on the company's first two plants was completed in 2008 and production soon commenced. It produces 230 million gallons annually. The company is partnering with agribusiness giant Cargill, which gives it reliable corn supplies, an established logistics/transportation network, and marketing expertise. BioFuel Energy went public in 2007, using the proceeds to repay outstanding debts, as well as to fund construction of its ethanol facilities. Greenlight Capital still owns about one-third of the company.
