1. (Poulenc: Les Dialogues des Carmélites). Soprano. Daughter of the Marquis and sister of the Chevalier de la Force. Enters a convent to find peace of mind. She escapes when the convent is ransacked and returns to her father's house. When she learns that the nuns are all to die by the guillotine, she joins them on the scaffold. Created (1957) by Virginia Zeany.

2. (Sullivan: Princess Ida). Lady Blanche. Cont. Professor of Abstract Science, in charge of the Castle Adamant, the ladies' college where Ida has taken refuge. Created (1884) by Rosina Brandram.
