CPFL Energia is brimming with Brazilian energy. The company distributes electricity to 6.4 million customers in about 570 comunities, primarily in the states of São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul, through its interests in a handful of utilities including CPFL Paulista, CPFL Piratininga, and Rio Grande Energia. CPFL Energia also owns hydroelectric power plants through its CPFL Geração unit. Another unit, CPFL Brasil, trades wholesale power in the open market and offers energy-management services.
