For CSK Auto, the magic is under the hood. The retailer of auto parts sells to do-it-yourself car owners, and increasingly auto professionals and commercial installers. CSK Auto once had 1,300-plus stores in about a dozen states, including California, Oregon, Washington, and other markets, mostly in the West under banners Checker Auto Parts, Schuck's Auto Supply, Kragen Auto Parts, and Murray's Discount Auto Parts. CSK Auto is a subsidiary of O'Reilly, which acquired it in 2008. The deal created the third-largest auto parts retailer in the US, behind AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts. All CSK stores converted to the O'Reilly brand, information systems, and inventory offerings, a process largely concluded in 2011.
