Canadian Superior Energy is an oil and natural gas exploration and production company with primary operations in Western Canada. In addition to its core coalbed methane operations in the Drumheller area of Alberta, the oil and gas independent has operations offshore Nova Scotia and Trinidad and Tobago. It also has been exploring in other areas of British Columbia and Alberta in Western Canada. The company is one of the largest acreage holders offshore Nova Scotia. In 2008 it reported proved plus probable reserves of 10.7 million barrels of oil equivalent. Cost overruns forced the company to seek bankruptcy protection in March 2009, from which it emerged in September, 2009.
