DaVita -- an Italian phrase that means "gives life" -- provides life-sustaining dialysis treatments to patients suffering from end-stage renal disease (chronic kidney failure). As one of the country's largest providers of dialysis, the company operates or provides administrative services to more than 1,600 outpatient dialysis centers across the US.
