When the pipes are about to blow, Detector Electronics sounds the alarm. The company, also called Det-Tronics, makes electrical detection products used to monitor industrial facilities for fire and gas leaks. Using UV, MIR, and fiber optics technology, sensors are designed to detect hazardous heat variations, radiation, and combustible and toxic gases. Its products, sold through more than 70 offices worldwide, are used to protect applications including offshore oil platforms, gas pipelines, subway systems, and aerospace and defense projects. Det-Tronics is part of UTC Fire & Security, a division of United Technologies.
