Eastman Chemical can recall its past through photos -- it was once part of film giant Eastman Kodak. The company is a major producer of chemicals, fibers, and plastics. Among Eastman's operating segments are its CASPI (coatings, adhesives, specialty polymers, and inks), Specialty Plastics (engineering polymers), and Fibers (acetate tow and textile fibers) units. The largest segment manufactures Performance Chemicals and Intermediates (PCI). Eastman's products go into such items as food and medical packaging, films, and toothbrushes. In 2011 Eastman Chemicals sold its polyethylene terephthalate business to DAK Americas, LLC for about $600 million. In 2012 the company agreed to buy Solutia in a $4.7 billion deal.
