Cold spells heated business for Enbridge in North America. Gas Pipelines, Processing and Energy Services is Enbridge's largest segment but it also has interests in Gas Distribution, Liquids Pipelines, and Sponsored Investments. Its gas utilities provide natural gas to about 2 million customers primarily in Ontario and New York. A major crude oil and liquids transporter, Enbridge moves about 2.2 million barrels of crude oil a day and operates thousands of miles of natural gas pipeline, including a 1,500 mile system connecting Alberta and British Columbia to the Chicago area. Its Sponsored Investments business consists of the firm's holdings in Enbridge Energy Partners (25%) and Enbridge Income Fund (72%).
