Michael C. Finton, also known as Talib Islam, born c 1980.
On September 24, 2009, the FBI Anti-Terrorism Task Force arrested Michael Finton of Decatur, Illinois, in downtown Springfield, Illinois after Finton attempted to bomb the Paul Findley Federal Building and the adjacent offices of Congressman Aaron Schock. Finton was known as Talib Islam, had converted to Islam in prison and traveled to the Middle East.[1] Talib Islam drove a truck filled with what he believed to be "a ton of explosives" to the federal building, then drove away with an undercover FBI Agent and tried to detonate the dummy explosives via cell-phone. The man was arrested and placed in federal custody on charges of terrorism and attempting to kill a federal employee.[2]
An affidavit filed in federal court reported that Finton visited Saudi Arabia in the spring of 2008. He told people he wanted to move there.
