Hess Corporation (formerly Amerada Hess) has what it takes to be a successful oil company. The integrated oil and gas company conducts exploration and production primarily in Algeria, Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Denmark, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Indonesia, Libya, Malaysia, Norway, Peru, Russia, Thailand, the UK, and the US. In 2010 Hess reported proved reserves totaling more than 1.3 billion barrels of oil equivalent. It operates a 50%-owned refinery (HOVENSA) in the US Virgin Islands and a smaller one in New Jersey, and it markets gasoline through more than 1,360 HESS gas stations in 16 US states, chiefly in the eastern US. It also provides power to Northeast and Mid-Atlantic customers.
