Homer Glen is a village, located just 11 miles (18 km) southwest of Chicago, in Homer Township, Will County, Illinois. As of a 2004 special census, the village had a total population of 24,083. The village was incorporated on April 17, 2001.[2]

Geography
The boundaries of the village of Homer Glen are one half-mile block south of 131st Street to the north (along the Cook County border); 183rd Street to the south; Will-Cook Road to the east; and Gougar Road to the west. The village shares its boundaries with the village of Lemont (in Lemont Township, Cook County) to the north, the village of Orland Park (in Orland Township, Cook County) to the east, the village of New Lenox (in New Lenox Township, Will County) to the south and the city of Lockport (in Lockport Township, Will County) to the west.
Demographics
Homer Glen and the surrounding Homer Township have a combined population of 35,000. It is a residential and commercial suburb of Chicago in the rapidly growing Will County. It is a middle to upper-class village. The village is served by three post offices: Lemont, Lockport, and Orland Park. Police services are supplied by the Will County Sheriff's Police Department. Fire services are provided by Northwest Homer Fire Protection District and the Homer Township Fire Protection District. The village's slogan is "Community & Nature...in Harmony".
Government
The current mayor of Homer Glen is Jim Daley. There are six trustees: Marcia De Vivo, Russell Knaack, Christopher Locacius, Mary Niemiec, Margaret Sabo and Laurel Ward. The town clerk is Steve Balich.
Education
There are three school districts and one high-school district serving the village. Homer Community School District 33-C is the elementary district, serving most of the community. Lockport and Will County school districts serve the rest. Lockport Township High School District 205 is the public high school, serving the village.
Recreation
Homer Glen has seven parks within its boundaries,[3] including Morris Park, Culver Memorial Park, Edmond J. Sendra Park, Yangas Park, Lamers Park, Goreham Park and Town Center Park. There are also two forest preserves within the boundaries of Homer Glen, Messenger Woods Nature Preserve and Homer Trails.[4]
Recreational opportunities in Homer Glen include: Homer Athletic Club,[5] Homer Blues Baseball - 18 & over, Homer Hawks Girls Softball,[6] Homer Soccer,[7] Homer Stallions Youth Football and Cheerleading Association[8] and Nazarene Recreation.[9]
Religion
Homer Glen is the site for the construction of the Sri Ramakrishna Universal Temple, a project of the Vivekananda Vedanta Society of Chicago.[10]
Home Glen is also the location of Annunciation of the Mother of God Byzantine Catholic Church. Annunciation is notably one of the few new parishes of the Byzantine Catholic Metropolitan Church of Pittsburgh.
Homer Glen is home to St. Bernard's Parish, a Roman Catholic Church, it was founded in 1989.
