Imogene (Bellini: Il pirata). Soprano. Wife of Ernesto, whom she was forced to marry after her real lover, Gualtiero, was defeated in the battle for the throne of Sicily and exiled. When he is shipwrecked near Ernesto's castle, the two men fight a duel and Ernesto is killed. Gualtiero gives himself up. Created (1827) by Henriette Mérie-Lalande.
