An earlier trade name for a variety of host connectivity hardware and software products originally developed by Digital Communications Associates (DCA) and later acquired by Attachmate Corporation. Irma was not an acronym, rather it was the lady's name. Although the Irma line no longer exists, its technology was absorbed into many of Attachmate's subsequent terminal emulation products for mainframes and AS/400s. See Irma board.
