Maguire Group is an architectural, engineering, planning, and construction management firm that services clients from its 12 offices throughout the northeastern US and in the US Virgin Islands. The company, which was founded in 1938, was the first to ever receive the Presidential Award for Design Excellence. However, the firm, which was part of the team that designed Boston's ill-fated Big Dig project, developed serious financial problems from the fallout from that debacle. In 2009, Carlos Duart became the new president and CEO of Maguire Group after buying a controlling interest from retiring owner and CEO Richard Repeta. Maguire Group now operates as a subsidiary of Duart's Miami-based Metric Engineering.
