The city was the home of Montréal-Mirabel International
Airport. The population in 2006 was 34,626.
It is currently the fastest growing city in Canada with a 40% growing rate as of 2006. To compare, Calgary has a growing rate of 15%.
A recreation and tourist project, named Lac
Mirabel, will be located in Mirabel, Quebec. It will be an investment of $350 million and will create some 3200 jobs. The
city will be served by commuter trains of the Blainville-Saint-Jerome Line of the Agence métropolitaine de transport, or AMT (in English, the "Metropolitan transportation agency"), the umbrella organization that plans, integrates, and coordinates public transportation services in the Greater
