Murphy Oil explores for and produces oil and gas -- primarily in the US, but also in Canada, Malaysia, and the UK, and also has major refining and marketing assets. In 2010 it reported proved reserves of 179 million barrels of oil, 119 million barrels of synthetic oil, and 883 billion cu. ft. of natural gas. Murphy Oil owns pipelines. It also owns a UK refinery. The company sells refined products through more than 1,000 Murphy Oil USA gas stations. Most of these US retail stations are located in the parking lots of Wal-Mart stores, although the company also operates stand-alone Murphy Express stations. Murphy Oil also supplies 116 branded wholesale SPUR stations.
