A major mortgage originator, seller, and servicer, the company issues conforming home loans to borrowers in good standing through about 400 offices in more than 30 states, as well at National City bank branches and over the Internet. National City Mortgage has more than $180 billion worth of mortgages in its portfolio, making it one of the top 10 mortgage servicers in the US. It originates approximately $18 billion of residential mortgages annually. At the end of 2008, rival superregional bank PNC Financial Services acquired the company's ailing former parent, National City, in a $5.6 billion transaction.
