Dun of Nechtan

Site of a Pictish victory over the Northumbrians, 685, after which King Unuist recovered lost territory. The spot is known as Linn Garan [pool of the crane] in Scottish Gaelic and is identified with the ruin known as Dunnichen or Dunnechain, near Forfar, Tayside.
