Parler (Czech: Parléř, IPA: [ˈparlɛːr̝̊]) was a surname of a family of German architects and builders from the 14 century. The family came from Schwäbisch Gmünd, but descendants of Heinrich Parler, the founder of the dynasty, were working in various parts of central Europe, especially in Bohemia.
The family name was derived from the German word Parlier, meaning "foreman".
The most known members of the family are:
- Heinrich Parler, also known as Heinrich of Gmünd, founder of the dynasty
- Michael Parler, son of Heinrich Parler
- Peter Parler (Czech: Petr Parléř), son of Heinrich Parler, younger brother of Michael Parler
- Wenzel Parler (Czech: Václav Parléř), son of Peter Parler
- Johann Parler (Czech: Jan Parléř), son of Peter Parler, younger brother of Wenzel Parler
Asteroid 6550 Parléř, discovered in 1988 by Antonín Mrkos, was named in honour of Peter Parler.
