Polypore International believes in separation of states -- mainly liquid from materials, such as ions, gases, and particles. The company develops and manufactures polymer-based membranes containing millions of pores per square inch that are used in separation and filtration processes. Through its Energy Storage segment, Polypore sells membrane separators that help the performance of lead-acid batteries used in vehicles and lithium batteries used in a variety of consumer electronics, from laptops to mobile phones.
