%DETAILS%. Answer . I may know the answer if it is a full size Blazer. There is a ground wire for the socket that may be connected to an area that has rusted and no longer is grounded. Reconnect to a solid piece of metal for the light to work..
The relay that handles the turn signals is separate from the relay that handles the hazards. Most likely you have a burned out turn signal relay. Most likely the relay is located in your fuse panel and is a very inexpensive item to replace. turn signals and hazards have separate flasher cans both… look the same and are generally in the fuse box replace the hazard flasher can. they cost about 2 dollars at auto store HOUNDDAWG ADDS: There may be a lamp with one of the turn signal elements burned out. If one is burned out turn signals may not work even though the lamp appears to be working when the lights are on. Otherwise replace emergency flasher or possibly turn signal switch in steering wheel. gaffer0118 adds: I had the same problem on my 2003 Saturn L200. When I cycled the Hazard Signal/switch for about 30 seconds, both left and right turn signals once again worked!! (MORE)
How do you fix the problem of the brake lights and turn signals and emergency flashers not working when all fuses and bulbs are good?
%REPLIES% The WD40 solution I had the same problem on my 98 Grand Marquis. A Linclon Mercury mechanic told me the problem was most likely in the hazard flasher switch on top of the steering column. He recommended I spray WD 40 around the switch and push it down *and let it pop up several times and… wiggle it around. It worked for me - problem solved. Apparently, over the years gunk finds it way in there, be it dirt, liquids, etc. Furthermore, he said there is no "flasher" you can replace as you may remember in older vehicles. Good luck. The rest or these posts are simply testimonials for the first answer . The WD-40 squirted in the emergency flasher switch worked in my 97 ford mustang. Thanks so much for the info. . Thanks for saving me the coins to pay a mechanic. I have a 97 Ford Van and the question fit my problem to the tee. The solution also fixed my problem. . My wife push the flasher and that started all the problems. I took your advise and it worked for me too on my 1995 Grand Marquis. Thanks for your imput. . I have a '99 Ford F-150 4.8 Liter V8, and this seems to have fixed the problem. It began as an intermittant problem and has gotten progressively worse over the past couple of months. I thought it was only affecting my turn signals, but I later discovered it also involved my brake lights. Moving the emergency flasher switch up and down a number of times solved the problem. Thank you! . This also worked for me I have a 1999 Ford Expedition. I moved the hazardous lights up and down and the problem was solved. . I thought I had checked the relevant fuses on my Ranger truck, but missed the one for brake-Emergency Flashers. My flashers were on - the button in the extended position when the fuse blew. Because the fuse went I didn't know the flasher was still in the on position. Therefore the turn signals and brake lights didn't work. It wasn't until I got the flasher in the off position that the turn signals started working again. . hey it worked for me too! i almost brought her in to the vultures till i found this. thanks!!!! . Worked on 1998 Lincon Continental...moved hazard warning switch in steering column up and down....worked great! THANKS! . The WD40 worked like a charm. I have been trying to fix this problem for 2 hours. I sprayed WD40 and problem solved. Thanks so much. . It works , don'ask me how , but it works. . Just used WD4O on the hazard switch of a 97 Aerostar whose blinkers have not worked for months. The switch now works freely, and the blinkers work, too. . I had a right front turn signal not working, sometimes. Then the left front stopped working, sometimes. Replaced lamps and still no joy. Tried the hazard flasher switch a few times and it started working but only sometimes. Sprayed WD40 into the hazard switch, exercised it a few times, and all OK now. Many thanks to the original poster. . Good Morning! Let me echo the repair of the WD40. I had the same symtems of turn signals, flashers not working. Checked all the fuses. Went to Auto Zone to seek advise, They called FORD for me (really nice guys here in Warren, Pa) Ford pointed them/me to a light processcor that costs in excess of $200. A dealer only part) Auto Zone then suggested for me to access the web and seek out like problems which I did. Thank you to the original poster of this issue and Auto Zone. Several squirts and I worked the switch...and presto...everything started working again! No cost at all to fix this prob. I already has the WD40! . It worked for me too on a 1997 Ford Thunderbird! Took me 2 days of checking things and not being able to use the care before I "Google'd" the problem. The Internet is great and so is your web site! You should have an option for people to pay something if you site helped them. This was worth at least $50 (and more if I would have taken it somewhere). . Thank you VERY MUCH !!! The WD-40 solution worked GREAT !!!!!!!!!!! . Thank you, worked for my 1997 F-150! (MORE)
It is actually found just above the cigarette lighter and power point in the centre of the dash below the radio/cd player. You need to take the bottom panel of the dash off to get in there and then you find two switches. One of them will be the turn signal switch. It took me about a half hour to fin…ally get all the panels off and change the switch. Once the switch is changed, I recommend testing it before you put it all back together. I still shake my head on why they did not put it under the bottom dash where most fuse panels were. . Actually, you don't need to remove any of the dash panels in order to replace the flasher. Open your glove box, then slide your fingers along the edge of the glove box liner to the left of the latch. There is a cut-out in the liner, and you will feel a metal release within the cut-out. Push upward slightly on the glove box liner, then push upward on the release. Hold the release in the upward position, then lower the glove box liner. The liner will drop out of the way giving you full access to the turn & emergency flashers. After replacing the flasher(s) simply push up on the glove box liner until it snaps back into place. (MORE)
Answer . The flasher is directly behind and slightly to the left of the cigarette lighter. You have to remove most of the panels below the dash and lift up the dash panel to access the flashers. In order to get the panels off you will need a ratchet with a 7mm socket and a star headed screwdriver… (not sure on the size, but I think a T27). This is the worst spot in the world to have placed them. Somebody really messed up at designing this blazer. (MORE)
Why does the turn signal fuse on a 1996 Chevy S-10 blazer keep blowing but the emergency flashers work fine?
Because the turn signals are a completely separate curcuit from the emergency 4 way lights. The turn signal wiring has a short that causes the fuse to blow out. In order to find that short, you need a technician that specialises in electrical wiring repairs, because you could spend days trying to fi…nd it and fail. It will cost some money but less than the value of the truck, or a traffic ticket for "no signals." (MORE)
Answer . \nbelow the radio, behind the knee bolster. It is the piece of plastic that houses the cigarette lighter. Flashers are behind the lighter and towards the driver a few inches.
Answer . I believe it is in your glove compartment there is an access to your flasher.
Your turn signal lights are not working but makes a buzzing noise when engaged the light comes on on the panel and on the vehicle but no flashing you have a 2000 Chevy Impala?
ADDED: I would suspect that the flasher unit might be faulty. It's that little 'can-like' looking thing that gives the 'ticking' sound when the bulb blinks. Good luck. We have had the same problem on a 2000 Chevy impala. We have replaced the hazzard switch. That did not help. We are clueless too. x…xlilachickxx@AOL.com (MORE)
Answer . \nYou have a short in the wiring or at one of the bulb assemblies.

Have a 1998 Chevy Blazer What would cause the turn signal flasher relay to make clicking sound all the time even though turn signal not on The only time it quits is when the brakes are applied?
Answer It's the stick thingy and wiring in the steering wheel. The thing you use to turn them on and off has a short. Replace it and it's good as gold. see "link" below Sorry, but the stick thingy is the wrong answer. I have a 1998 GM Blazer and the exact same thing happened to me. It sounded exac…tly like my directional signal was on, but it was not. It actually started to drive me crazy because no one could figure it out. When I put my foot on the brake, the clicking sound would also go away. Mechanics thought I was crazy. Two years later, I found an independent mechanic and he did 2 things to correct the problem. (1) Replaced the 4 wheel drive switch on the dashboard, and (2) Replaced the solenoid switch under the dash. The clicking sound was gone for good. Good luck, hope you get it resolved. (MORE)
Brake lights don't work with headlights on only right side brake lights partially with headlights off Right turn signal in rear works always left turn signal flashes quickly always Any advice?
You have some problems with electrical connections. Most likely the ground wire of the tail lights. Also, the left light may be burned out or have a POSITIVE wire connection problem.
My 2000 firebird's left turn signal has stopped working the turning lights are out on that side and the flasher on the dash doesn't flash at all what do you think the problem is?
Answer . \nIf you put the left turn signal on and it flashes quicker than it does if you put the right turn signal on I'm pretty sure one of the bulbs is out. Park your car with it running and the left turn signal on and walk around the car and see what isn't flashing that should be. Then you …know what bulb to change, it should give you the exact bulb type/number/color in your owner's manual. (MORE)
i HAD TO REPLACE THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH IN MY 96 BLAZER IT WAS HARD TO FIND BUT I HAD TO REMOVE THE PANEL UNDER THE DASH from drivers door over to the ash tray. to the right of the steering wheel will be a metal bracket behind that bracket was to fuses it was the one left hope this helps.
Replace the switch. I had the same problem. You can purchase the switch at any auto parts store it easily clicks in and out.
What causes both turn signal lights to flash when either signal is turned on and to stop when brake is applied only when lights are on?
Answer . It depends on the car. Some cars require that you turn on the turn signals to make the 4-way flasher work. If that's the case with your vehicle, make sure the emergency flashers aren't on.\n. \nOtherwise, it's probably a problem with the turn signal switch.
How do you fix running lights on 1990 Buick Century Brake lights and turn signals and hazards all work Just no running lights?

What fuse controls the brake lights on a 90 Dodge Dakota. All lights and turn signals work except no brake lights when brake pedal is pushed?
Answer . \nAfter further research I am answering my own question. It is fuse number 6 on the fuse block located under the dash and is a 10 amp fuse.
What fuse controls the brake lights on a 96 crown Victoria All lights and turn signals work except no brake lights when brake pedal is pushed?
If all the fuses are good, then most likely the brake light switch right on the brake pedal inside the car. Check that.
Check bulbs they are double filamented (smaller for brake/turn larger for tailights Check the sockets for corrosion Check ground . have you checked your fuses?
Why don't the brake lights work when tail lights turn signals emergency flashers and 3rd brake light do on my 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo?
Answer . First thing I'd check would be the fuse for the stop lights. If it is okay the next thing I'd check would be the stoplight switch located under the dash where the brake pedal is suspended.
What is wrong with your 2000 Pontiac Montana when you press the brake pedal and put on your turn signal the lights all alternately flash?
There is a ground fault in one of your wire connections into yourtaillight. It is usually a connector for your rear light assembly.Remove the plugs from the tail light assembly starting with theside that blinkers flash fast when brakes are applied. You willfind that the pin to your ground will have …a blackish tint to thepin (on the brake light assembly). Clean this pin and thecorresponding plug recepticle. I added a tiny piece of tin foil tothe plug in the ground pin hole to ensure a tight connection. Plugin the unit while not installed and see if that eliminates theblinker lights from coming on on the dash when the brakes areapplied and the blinker is on. (MORE)

What would cause the turn signal lights on a 1992 Explorer to light up but not flash The emergency flashers work but the turn signals will not flash?
Answer . \neither a bulb or the signal flasher relay located on the fuse panel usually opposite the hazard flasher relay
2001 Chevy Cavalier hazards lights flash but blinkers do not work is it the turn signal bulbs that need to be replaced or the flasher?
If neither signal light works, the flasher may very likely be the problem. The hazard lights and the signal lights work off different flashers.
Brake lights taillights turn signals dash lights dont work but head lights do on a 1997 Chevy S10 Blazer?
Replace your Head light switch. All of these circuits run through that switch. i just had this same problem but on my '97 Chevy Malibu... if you've just installed an aftermarket stereo then this might be the solution for you: On most aftermarket stereos there's no wire connection for the Dimmer and…/or Illumination (or there's a hook up for either the Illumination or Dimmer wire) and usually most people just tape them off and push them back. Well in the Chevrolet Malibu all of the Instrument Panel (to include the factory stereo) are wired together so that if one wire is disconnected it all goes out... so in order for you to get your Instrument Panel lights working again you must splice the two wires together... In lamens terms.. you have to connect the Dimmer wire [Brown (not striped)] and the Illumination wire [Grey (not striped)] together.. if your problem was the same as mine then this should do the trick Good Luck!!! Where is the turn signal flasher on a 1991 Subara Loyale located and what type is it can not find it Turn signal light stays on all the time and will not flash?
Flasher is under the dash, drivers side, follow the clicking sound the signal makes when turned on. That sound comes from the flasher. If signal is staying on it could be you have a bulb or two out. Check your signal lights before replacing the flasher.
1979 Dodge B200 Sportsman V8 brake pedal makes all signal lights come on with brake lights the hazards or signals don't work on their own could it be a flasher?
On the 1979 B200 Sportsman V8 if the brake pedal makes all signallights come on and hazards and flashers do not work on their own,it could be the flasher, but the culprit could also be a burned outbulb or a short in the wiring.
How did fixing bad ground wire on running lights passenger side for 2000 Chevy S-10 affect brake lights. Now the drivers side ONLY brake light goes off when apply brakes. All other lights seem work OK?
Perhaps fixing the ground wire for the passenger side on the 2000Chevy S-10 will require that the driver's side ground wire also befixed in order to have the brake lights work properly. There has tobe a short somewhere in the wiring for the lights to go off.
What fuse controls the brake lights on a 96 Chevy 1500 All lights and turn signals work except no brake lights when brake pedal is pushed?
I'm not exactly sure which fuse it is, but it doesn't sound like a fuse to me. I would check the switch on the pedal, just simply short acrost it from terminal to terminal with a screwdriver, if the brake lights come on, the switch on the pedal is bad, if they don't then it probably is a fuse.
What would cause no brake lights and turn signals even though there is power at flasher and brake pedal switch?
Burned out bulbs . Defective lamp socket(s) . Broken wire between flasher/switches and actual lamps themselves
The turn signal flasher on a 2000 Chevy Blazer is located under thedash. It is just above the gas pedal and slightly to the right.
I replaced the turn signal bulb on my 2000 Chevy Venture Van and now it blinks erratically when the brakes are applied. Even with no turn signals on when I hit my brakes both signal arrows light up.?
As this issue started when you replaced a bulb you may have inadvertently put a single filament bulb into a dual filament socket. . Remove the new bulb you installed and look into the socket. . If the bottom of the socket has two contacts but your "new" bulb only has one, on it's bottom, then th…at is the problem. The single contact touches both the brake and the turn-signal contacts in the bottom of the socket at the same time causing the short. . If the correct bulb is in fact installed then check the wiring into the lights. There is probably a short - some bare wires. (MORE)
\nprobably have a bad relay, that was my problem.. Are your turn signals not working, but your hazards lights are? and if so, do you hear a constant clicking sound, like your turn signal is turned on? Does the clicking sound go away when you hit the brakes? It is the relay.
When any turn signal on a vehicle flashes more rapidly than normal, then that means that a signal light on the side that is blinking is burned out. It could be either the front of back. You should check your signals to see if one is burnt out. The brake however should not affect this - you could hav…e a short. (MORE)

Driver side turn signal lights up but dont flash and the dash signal stays on all the time but the other side works fine could this be a flasher or wiring?
your flasher is bad i had the same problem and replaced the flasher .it is located behind your e brake lever in dash there are 2 one emergency and one for turning the top one is turning
Front seating area, passenger side, behind dash, under access panel, mounted in fuse panel in glove compartment.
The signals and the emergency flashers have separate circuits, separate fuses, separate flasher relays. Start with checking the fuses, the bulbs, the signal flasher relay and wiring and if it still doesn't work it may be the signal switch is bad.
Why do all the signal lights flash plus the middle brake light when you give a turn signal on a 2002 Chevy Silverado.?
You may have a bulb that that brunt a element which than crossed the other element cause all lights to come on a one time. I have seen this before. If this does not light all bulbs when the brakes are applied, then I would be looking in the front lights, if it does I would look in the back lights.

Why do the backup lights and top brake light work on a 1999 chevy Tahoe but the brake lights and all turn signals do not work?
Start with checking the fuses and bulbs. See sources and related links below for bulb information.
Need to clarify what you mean here. If you're referring to the lights themselves, both of the two bulbs in the top of the tail lamp housing are dual filament bulbs, which serve as parking lights, turn signal lamps, and brake lamps.
