What you're describing sounds a lot like a sticking thermostat. --Highly recommend completely draining and flushing the cooling system. Replace the Dex-Cool with GREEN Prestone (or any manufacturer). You should immediately discontinue use of Dex-Cool in your car. It will cause very costly future problems.

The correct coolant is DEXCOOL it has an orange color to it. If your coolant is green the coolant has been changed. It has been found out that DEXCOOL was bad for Aluminum heads and gaskets. Best to switch to the green coolant.
