2001 Chevrolet silverado3500 and you have a coolant leak coming from somewhere around the ac compressor but you cant find the leak you let the truck run for hours and no leaks only under load?

do a pressure test on your cooling system. pressurizing the system will cause coolant to seep out of your leak allowing you to pinpoint it.
this is just a guess but check your water pump. that's my bet. mine leaked like you describe from the pulley shaft.

If it is too low on coolant the ac compressor will not engage. It is a safety feature to keep from burning it up. Try to add freon and as the pressure builds the compressor should kick on. If you are sure you have adequate coolant; it could be anything from electrical to a frozen compressor.
