2003 Hyundai santa fe with engine light after filling fuel tank as the needle comes off of full the engine light comes on on resetlight will stay off. Hyndai says bad catalytic converter. Only full?

Hi, I was told that if you fill the gas tank while the car is running, the check engine light may come on, it will go off after a while of driving. I had the same intermittant problem.....

The torque converter has leaked down. There should be a small plug that can be removed and you can fill it. First let the transmission run a little bit to fill the converter, then check the level and fill as necessary (the pump is filling the converter). Or you can pull the tranny back and fill the converter that way.
