50 inch lg plasma no power Go to turn on but the light flashes from green to red then powers itself back off Any ideas?

From your description I would say that the AC high voltage power side is blown. The light you see is a dc led, which tells me power is coming into the unit and hitting the ac to dc converter which is most likely ok, ac input voltage is ramped up to a very high limit, low amps. This is normally done with large capacitors as that is the weakest link. You may smell an odd smell at the back of set or with the back off actually see the blown cap. Of course do not attempt any repair unless you know your way around a schematic and are experienced, fingers on your hand are a good thing.
