Series. You want all the current from the source to go through it.

A fuse is connected in series with the load. For safety reasons, it is always placed in the line conductor, never in the neutral conductor.

What is the difference between parallel and cereal circuits?

in the series circuit elements are one behind the other ie +ve terminal of one element is connected to the -ve of other element of the circuit whenever in parallel circuits the elements are parallely connect ie all +ve terminal are connected at a point and all -ve terminals of the elements are connected at a point.

Which are the best electronic circuit breakers?

The best electronic circuit breakers are possibly Square D. Make sure that you specify the sub type, which should be QO and not Homeline or any other type.

How do you connect surge arrester?

The surge arrestor is clipped onto the rail in the DB next to the existing breakers, the live (red) wire is looped from the existing live loops above the other circuit breakers onto the top of the surge arrestor. The bottom of the arrestor is connected to the earth bar. It would be better to install a seperate earth spike and connect the botom of the arrestor to that to make sure that you have a good earth but it is sometimes not possible if the DB enclosure is indoors.

How works oil circuit breakers?

A circuit breaker is a safety device that is put in an electrical circuit. When something fails, or shorts out, the circuit breaker "senses" the excessive current and automatically opens (or breaks) the circuit. They are used in homes, as well as some electrical devices. They are different than a fuse in that a circuit breaker can be reset. A fuse on the other hand, has to be replaced once it opens up. I hope this helps you. for more info, here is a web page about circuit breakers: Ciruit breakers

Why is it important that homes have circuit breakers?

Fuses and circuit breakers are meant to protect your home's wiring from the heat generated from fault-currents and over-currents. Over-currents happen when you exceed the amperage the fuse or breaker is rated for over a period of time (IE: drawing 20 amps on a 15 amp circuit breaker). When this occurs a fuse or circuit breaker will open the circuit so the wiring in your home will not be damaged. Over-currents happen when electricity finds a path, other than the one intended, to ground. When this happens there is very little resistance to slow the flow of electricity and the amperage through the circuit can exceed the fuse or circuit breakers rated capacity by several hundred times . These type of faults cause the fuse or circuit breaker to open the circuit very quickly.

What is the iffrence between a series circuit and parallel circuit?

Series circuit: elements are connected one after the other; the current (the electrons, or other charge carriers) has to pass through each of the elements in turn. Parallel circuit: elements are connected in such a way that part of the current will pass through one circuit element, part through the other.

The points where circuits interconnect with other circuits is known as what?

The point where wires interconnect with other wires is known as a "junction". In your panel the circuit breakers are connected to the buss, each circuit breaker feeds a different circuit. Different circuits are not connected together.

How is series circuit used?

Can be used for anything. It means that all the elements in the circuit are connected one after the other

What is a parilel circuit?

A parallel circuit is one where the elements in question are connected "side-by-side". The term is generally use to contrast against a series circuit where the elements are connected "end-to-end". As an example take two resistors and arbitrarily label the leads "A" and "B". If you connect the two resistors to each other such that A on one is connected to A on the other and B on the one is connected to B on the other, you have created a parallel connection of the two resistors.

How are fuses or circuit breakers connected with other elements in the circuit?

Fuses are normally associated in series with the component(s) to be protected from over-current, so that when the fuse blows (opens) it's going to open the whole circuit and prevent cutting-edge through the ingredient

Are circuit breakers more expensive the better they are?

On one hand you don't want to search for the absolute cheapest circuit breaker you can find.On the other this is a competitive business and most circuit breakers have similar quality and price ranges

When would you need to use westinghouse circuit breakers?

You need these types of circuit breakers when using 240 volt power rather than 120 volt. Large appliances such as a dryer require these larger circuit breakers. Other appliances such as stoves and some water heaters also require them.

Why sf6 circuit breaker is mostly used in substations rather than other?

Rather than where? Circuit breakers are always located in substations.

Why ammeter cannot be connected in parallel?

An ammeter has low resistance (ideally no resistance) because it is placed in series with other circuit elements to detect how much current is flowing. If it is placed in parallel with a component it will short-circuit it. That is a bad thing.
