fill up radiator with coolant within one inch of top, crank car turn heater to max .then watch antfreeze in filler neck to go down ,slowly add and wait oonce thermostat opens level will drop down lower, add more coolant to the top and put radiator cap back on. remember to keep your body parts away from moving engine and that the coolant gets really HOT if you decide to sneek a second peek after you put on radiator cap. DON'T DO IT !

The 2001 Mitsubishi Gallant thermostat is located inside of the thermostat housing. You can follow the bottom radiator hose directly to the thermostat housing.
A faulty thermostat in a 2001 BMW 325CI can cause a coolant leak. The coolant may be leaking out a crack in the thermostat or through a warped edge. In some cases the problem may be just a bad gasket and not actually a problem with the thermostat at all.
Look in the removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
The thermostat on the 2001 Mitsubishi Galant is located behind the neck where the bottom radiator hose hits the block. I found the easiest way to get to the thermostat is to remove the battery. Be prepared to remove alot of screws. You'll need a pair of pliers, a 10mm & 13mm socket. ! Q

Under the thermostat
My Dad and I did this the other day. You have to take the alternator off to get to it. Once you get that out of the way you will see the thermostat, which has two bolts that come off- careful because your coolant will be pouring out. Replacing the thermostat is the easy part- just make sure you have the o-ring that goes with it.
The 2001 Lexus coolant temperature sensor can be found on the front of the engine. The coolant temperature sensor will be in the vicinity of the thermostat housing.
The coolant sensor is the two wire sensor that is next to the thermostat housing.
If a 2001 Chevy Impala will not start after replacing a thermostat, perhaps it is possible that a sensor was bumped unknowingly. Check all of the sensors that might have been touched during the changing of the thermostat to see that they are all still plugged in.
