The most important thing would be to practice practice practice. The longer and more you run the faster you will become.
Run faster
A 5K run is a distance of 3.11 miles.
I am not sure but cardio and flexibility would be a key for any runner so that you can continue the 5k and not run out of gas.
5K Or for those that are metric impaired 3.1 miles
When I ran my first 5k I took 45 minutes. I think around that time.

You can run a 5k two days after donating blood. It is recommended, however to wait until five days have passed.
try the couch to 5k. Google it and you can also download podcasts to your ipod. I just started it myself. I am running my 1st 5k this November.

Well, your age doesn't exactly matter. I know people in high school that can't run a 5k. I also know people pretty young that can run 5ks. I am 10. Whan I run 1 mile races people say "Can you make it to the end of the race?" People say that just to make fun of me. Remember the race is 3.1 miles. I'm 10. I can run a 25 minute 5k. People say that is too young. I don't. People there are older and younger kids that run 5ks. Remember, there is ALWAYS someone faster then you and there is also ALWAYS someone slower than you. Some people say that a 10th grader that can run a 5k is too young. How do you think I feel?
