Have any black people died of swine flu?

As of 22 May 2009 Harris county (Houston) Texas has reported 64 confirmed cases of Novel H1N1 Influenza and only one death. The death, however was the early death of the child from Mexico who was traveling in the Houston area when hospitalized and died. No Houston residents have been reported to have died of the "Swine Flu of 2009".

The Philadelphia Inquirer just recently reported that some 56 cases of swine flu have been reported in New Jersey to date. And the number of cases of H1N1 is going to be going up. A link can be found below.

In our area where I volunteer right now, we have about 130 known cases and about 21 people have died. I don't know the exact count as of today but I',m sure it's rising. It could be because it transmits so fast. Some tips to help prevent spread the disease: 1. Wash hands regularly 2. Avoid crowded areas 3. The first answer that comes to mind is that people usually die in the hospital if they have severe complications of the flu that have led to death, but that is actually true only in the more wealthy parts of the world. Considering a broader world view, more people die from the swine flu where they have little resources and fewer medical facilities. They die at home unable to get to professional care or to get to fresh water. All who can, should do all they can to avoid getting or giving the flu so the pandemic will die out and fewer of those in impoverished locations will have to risk death.

There have been a relatively small number of deaths that can be attributed to Swine Flu, when compared to the numbers of deaths that are typically caused the the seasonal flu each flu season. Many of these, also like the seasonal flu, may be attributed to other health problems of the patient.
