Many people are, yes. Others are neutral, others just frustrated with their lies. Others are amused: "The name alone makes me laugh; it used to be a kid's tv show, so how can anyone take them seriously?"
ISIL scares me. When you have seen footage of ISIL members proudly murdering religious minorities, throw gays off of rooftops, and gut out the entrails of Iraqi and Syrian soldiers, anything short of fear is lunacy. Now, that is not to say that those who respect Human Rights should move over for ISIL, far from it, but we should acknowledge how willing and proud they are of their barbarism and take that into account when assessing them. Particularly the ability that ISIL has to dehumanize their opponents frightens me because of what it says about our shared humanity, or rather how easily it can be swept aside.
Yes, of their ability to get "lone wolf" believers to attack in various countries.

I am not sure it is evil, but there has always been people or groups of people who want to control or dominate the world and society. These people see people who are not like them as weak and that they need to control them. People like Isis go back as far as the 12th century and in the 20th century we have had Hitler. Hitler killed 6 million people on purpose. Isis is doing the same as well as making people into slaves. Sometimes people have to fight to keep their society and freedom. I think we are coming to that conclusion now that to keep our world we will have to fight Isis.
