Sandstone is a sedimentary rock formed when grains of sand are deposited and subsequently compacted into rock by the pressure of overlying deposits and by the cementing effect of various other chemicals. The minerals found in sandstone will be whatever minerals were in the original grains of sand that formed the rock, chiefly quartz, and usually feldspar. Any number of other trace minerals will be found, depending upon the original source of the sand. The minerals that cement the sand particles together with likely be calcium carbonate, calcite, and silica. Check out wikipedia for more detail: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandstone Rod Burrows, PE
Sandstone consists of grains of quartz or feldspar or a mixture of those, cemented together by some mineral such as silica, calcite, gypsum, hematite, limonite, feldspar, anhydrite, barite, clay minerals, or zeolite that has formed between the grains. Sandstone may also contain small amounts of other minerals that were present in the sand, such as muscovite, biotite, olivine, pyroxene, and corundum.
In short: quartz or feldspar or both, and calcite, gypsum, hematite, limonite, feldspar, anhydrite, barite, clay minerals, or zeolite, plus perhaps small amounts of accessory minerals.
Sandstone is a sedimentary rock. It is made up of small minerals which includes quartz and feldspar. These two minerals are the most abundant in the Earth's crust.
Two of the Earth's most abundant minerals occur in silt: quartz and feldspar.

It depends on where it's formed.
chiefly quartz,and usually feldspar
Rocks are not considered to have a streak, as they may consist of several minerals. In the case of sandstone, the rock could be composed of feldspar, quartz, glauconite, and other minerals. Minerals in solutions can penetrate and stain the sandstone as well and affect the attempted streak test.
Sandstone is the sedimentary rock formed from weathered rock.
Clastic sedimentary. Classification of rocks are based upon three types: geological process, ... or sedimentaryrocks (fragmental rocks) are sandstone, laterite, sand, ... Sandstone (sometimes known as arenite) is a clastic sedimentary rock composed mainly of sand-sized minerals or rock grains. Most sandstone is composed of quartz or feldspar because these are the most common minerals in the Earth's crust.
Streak and Mohs hardness are descriptive and identifying terms for minerals. Because sandstone could be composed of a multitude of different rock particles or minerals, a specific hardness or streak cannot be attributed to them.
Compressed and cemented sand is called sandstone.

Sandstone is a type of clastic sedimentary rock with sand-sized minerals or sand grains. Its two chief minerals are quartz and feldspar.
Cleavage is a property of minerals. Sandstone is a rock type. As such it doesn't have the property of cleavage.Cleavage is a metamorphic fabric. Sandstone is not a metamorphic rock and thus can not display a cleavage.
