Blue ringed octopus is the common name for the genus Hapalochlaena, which contains three species:
*Greater Blue-ringed octopus (Hapalochlaena lunulata)
*Southern Blue-ringed octopus, also known as the Lesser Blue-ringed octopus (Hapalochlaena maculosa)
*Blue-lined octopus (Hapalachlaena fasciata)
Based on one description given of a single specimen in 1938, some think that there may be a fourth species, Hapolachlaena nierstraszi, but that is uncertain.
A bigg noooooo
giant octopus can be very giant and big
whereas a blue ringed octopus is only about the size of a adult human palm!!
the greater blue ringed octopus is 20cm long
it is 560centimeters long
They can have a diameter of 1.5 inches.
The blue ringed octopus are quite small. They are 5 - 8 inches, or about the size of a golfball.
The most dangerous one would probably be the blue ringed octupus ,which I lives in the great barrier reef, because of its deadly poison. Giant Pacific octopuses might also be dangerous because they are known to kill sharks that they share tanks with in aquariums. The day octopus is almost as big as a giant octopus except that it can float in the ocean and attack divers.
It would have to be a BIG octopus (they do get big but probably not big enough). A giant squid, maybe...
The Blue Ringed Octopus is the deadliest octopus. Its venom is ten times as worse as cyanided. It has two venoms, one for predators, and one for prey. If you see brown rings, then your ok. If you see blue rings, then your to late.It is the smallest octopus in the world. Its as big as a golf ball. There very pretty but deadly.
The poison is not injected but is contained in the octopus's saliva, which comes from two glands each as big as its brain.Although the painless bite can kill an adult, injuries have only occurred when an octopus has been picked out of its pool and provoked or stepped on.
