No, not that I'm aware of... a kidney infection can be cause dform several things including diet, how often you urinate and injuries. It is not possible to catch a kidney infection from someone or pass one on to someone else. No. I've had at least 5 kidney infections. It hurts terribly but no, it's not contagious. There are a few different things that cause them: 1. Wiping from back to front 2. Not drinking enough fluids 3. Having bacteria get inside you (from things such as certain kinds of foreplay, or sex. If you are sexually active, be sure to urinate after intercourse. Always.)

UTI's are caused by a number of reasons sometimes dehydration causing heavy crystalline urine, e. coli bacteria that is spread from the anal region to the vagina or urethra, unclean products used to wipe or the lack of wiping all can cause discomfort. Sometimes the symptoms of a UTI are similar to certain STD's so it is wise to see a doctor to check it out. If the infection feels minor as in just a slight tingling try drinking pure unsweetened cranberry juice. The acids in the juice help to balance out the acids in the urine and often will obliterate the problem. However you may see slight traces of blood in the urine and have intestinal cramping. This warrants a doctor's visit. Do not try to cure it with overthe counter UTI pain relievers and do not wait too long before dealing with this problem. UTI's can be contagious if they are e. coli based since you are possibly carrying traces of this bacteria on the penis or inside the vagina. You need to take antibiotics or drink as much cranberry as needed until you feel normal again. If the problem is e.coli a few days of cranberry will not get rid of it, som you will know when to seek help. Whether you are contagious or not, absolutely refrain from sexual activity as this can irritate the problem further and lead to more discomfort. Sometimes it is possible to have crystalline deposits in the urethra or vagina and so intercourse can really aggravate the problem until you completely flush out your sytem with lots of good fluids, avoiding caffiene, citrus juices and alcohol.
