This is a very large breed, with males weighing 100 to 130 pounds and standing up to 32 inches. The female can weigh as much as 85 pounds but stands only a few inches shorter. The coarse white coat and dense, soft undercoat give the Great Pyrenees the appearance of a bear. In fact, some people even say the dog has a majestic look.

Great Pyrenees are full grown by 1 year. That is, they will reach the majority of their maximum height at 1 year (may grow another 1/2 inch in the second year). However, they do not reach maximum size until their 3rd year of life. For the most part, they appear to be almost malnourished for the first 3 years. Very lanky and fast. By three, they reach their full power and girth.
