Attention can be a very interesting thing. Some people don't have to work for it at all because they're beautiful, smart, or talented. Others try too hard and only receive the wrong type. At the same time, others work really hard and get good attention for all their effort and time. I guess it really depends on what type of attention that you are talking about.
Do you want the attention for being an over acheiver?
Or the attention and pity for being a failure?
Both are attention, they're very different though.
