Except for the part about checking the filter for leaks and tears, I disagree with the answer directly below. First, it is unlikely that DE expelled into a pool will settle out. It will remain in suspension, especially if people continue to use the pool or if the filter continues to run. At the very least, the pool will be cloudy and uninviting. Second, even if the DE did settle out and people walked on it, it's hard to imagine they would be able to pulverize the microscopic particles any smaller than they already are. Third, even pool-grade DE, which has been heat treated to crystallize the silicon dioxide, is an eye and mucus-membrane irritant. Swimming in a pool contaminated with DE can lead to eye and sinus infections. No, not really, would be the short answer. If people walk on it, it just breaks down into smaller fines. However, the filter needs to be torn apart and checked for leaks.

All wrong above. How gross ! D.E. returning to the pool indicates that you have damaged filter grids. The filter needs to be disassembled and the grids replaced. Damaged grids just return more debris and does not filter out other contaminants. The clean and working filter with the addition of chlorine combine to keep your pool looking like you actually want to get into it. With all that is coming back to the pool added to what you are adding to the pool by using it is a scene for disaster health wise especially if you have a cut or if you are a female.

Face it the pool water is not going to get better and will eventually crash. You are not looking for leaks, you are looking for torn cloth on the filter grids of which there are 8.

I can almost say that your filter has not been broken down for service in 8 to ten years. Your filter and your friends and family will be thankful that you took care of a potentially harmful situation. D. E. will settle out overnight and can be vacuumed up but if the grids are bad that won't work now will it.

Eventually OR if you are in a hurry give the pool a treatment with floculant allow it to settle a couple of days and all of the impurity's in the water will be in a cloudy layer at the bottom of the pool gently vacuum this stuff to waste do not put it through the filter.

Another way is to use a device that I saw demonstrated and am testing out myself at the moment and that is a multicyclone water filtration unit it should do the job well as it removes dust and heavier then water materials before they get to the filter.

Whats the largest size pool in gallons that can be filtered by salt water generator?

40k gallons

Does a salt water pool dehydrate you?

If a salt water pool has a DE (diatomaceous earth) filter, then the filter depends on the DE for filtration. Salt water pools must be filtered just the same as fresh water pools. Not all filters use DE however. There are also sand and cartridge style filters that do not use DE. Salt is added to a pool usually to enable the use of a salt water chlorine generator which can eliminate the need to add chlorine because the chlorine is generated electrically from the salt. It does not eliminate the need for filtration and in the case of a DE filter, does not change the need for DE.

How do overflow pools system works are they operated by two pumps one for the filter and the second for returning overflowed water?

How do you get DE powder out of the pool water?

Firstly you find out how the DE got into the pool - must be a broken filter pad. Fix that, then vacuum the pool. No point vacuuming before you fix the filter problem, or the DE will finsih up back in the pool.

Why is swimming in a natural water different from swimming in a pool?

Swimming pools are chlorinated (have Cl2 added to it) and filtered to decrease bacteria and dirt content.

Is tap water better then bottled water for plants?

That depends if the tap water is filtered or not. Bottled water is filtered, and some tap water isn't, but if the tap water is filtered, then both kinds of water are the same healthiness to plants.

Just filled our above ground 18ft round pool with water. About 24 hours later there is a green look to it. We haven't even used it yet. Is this because of our water hardness level. We have very hard water.(from well) What can be done to clear up the water?

Your water is turning green due to algae. You need to scrub your pool walls to and then "Shock" your pool by adding chlorine. Keep your pool filtered and it should clear up in a few days.

Why would a DE pool filter pump the DE back into the pool via the water jets as soon as DE is put into the skimmers instead of adhering to the filter?

Check the grid and manifolds for holes or cracks.
