No, it can splinter and do damage to the intestinal track or get caught in the dog's throat. If you want to let your dog enjoy a bone, you can, you just have to give them raw bones. Raw bones are not harmfull as long as they are size appropriate. If your dog is huge and you give it a tiny bone, obviously it could try to swallow it and choke. Any time that you let your dog have a bone, it should be supervised. You should only let your dog chew on the bone for a specific period of time like 30-60 minutes and keep an eye on him/her; after that take the bone away. Never leave the dog alone with a bone.

Yes you can give your dog ham hocks. Well at least we give our dogs ham hocks.. But be prepared they get really vicious. They growl whenever you go near them while they are eating their ham hocks... They will even bite you if they feel that you are a threat (example: You will take their ham hock and eat it on them). They are vicious and I mean vicious! Be prepared you have been warned.

Your dog might be different but mine get really vicious.

A ham bone would be ok, but if it is still frozen, that would not be good for your dog.

Generally, dogs are almost strictly carnivores. Dogs generally thrive on diets made up almost entirely of meat, as long as we feed some organ meat, bones, grains and vegetables to give them a well-balanced diet.

When you can, try to give well balanced fresh made food to your dog and avoid commercial grade foods. And make sure to avoid giving foods like sugar free gums and raisins which are toxic to dogs.

Many dog owners wonder if it is ok to give their dogs ham bones. We all know how much dogs love bones and we all know that chicken bones can be lethal to dogs. As far as ham bones are concerned it is not so straight forward. Ham is usually smoked. This can cook and soften the bone. However, if you supervise the dog you can judge how they are going to handle a ham bone and make a decision for the future.

Yes, you can give your dog leg ham. But you can also give him rat poison. Whether or not you can give him something is not relevant to if it will harm him in any way. The grammatically correct way to phrase this question is "'Will it harm my dog to feed him/her leg ham." If I was to respond to this question i would tell you "It Should not harm your dog in any way to consume ham from the leg of a pig."

I wouldn't. Ham makes my dogs sick and then you'll be cleaning up dog puke. But I think I'd give it the ham if that was the ONLY thing I had to feed it. It's better than going hungry maybe. Hey, Christmas was a long time ago, over 3 weeks. Throw the ham away. It's too old to eat now anyway. Give the dog some dog food!
