No. Although contact lenses have the benefit of covering the entire field of view, and do away with the drawbacks of having a pair of glasses that can fall off, they also contribute in many ways to the development of eye diseases. Contact lenses, when improperly handled, can cause irreparable damage to the cornea.

No, you need to have a separate contact lens prescription. The doctor has to prescribe the specific brand that fits best to your eye. Every brand of contact has a different base curve, diameter, and breathable material that the doctor takes into account when prescribing them for you.

No. The diopter value (strength) of the lens might be the same, but contact lens prescriptions also include a base curve to match the shape of the individual eyeball, and also possibly a lens diameter.

I work for Contact Lens King an online retailer of contact lenses. There are ways to convert the prescription but your ECP will be the one to do it for you. It is not as simple as saying -250 will be -250. Remember the contact lens sits on your eye. Eyeglasses are up to 10cm from your eye. Call your ECP(eye care professional) and they should be able to do this for you.

So, as helpful as this answer is and all, could I get an elaborated answer? My contact prescription is -2.75 and -3.00, its straight forward with no other problems. Should glasses be okay with the same prescription?

No. Contacts stick to your eye, and glasses lenses are an inch from your eye, so the powers are going to be different. My contact prescription is -6 and my glasses prescription is -7.25--a substantial difference.

What should i wear while riding a bike contact lenses or glasses?

Obviously the glasses. Contact lenses will protect only the retina of the eye. Rest of the eye is exposed to the dust particles. You should use the glasses which will not allow entry of the dust particles in the eyes. So called bikers glasses. But it is better to have any type of glasses than none.

What happens when you wear someone else's glasses or contacts?

Well, your eyes are different. They can have different prescriptions, so mixing up your contact lenses could not correct your vision properly- like wearing someone else's glasses. Also, if you have an infection in one eye, moving a contact lens from the infected eye to the uninfected eye could spread the infection.
