No. Although contact lenses have the benefit of covering the entire field of view, and do away with the drawbacks of having a pair of glasses that can fall off, they also contribute in many ways to the development of eye diseases. Contact lenses, when improperly handled, can cause irreparable damage to the cornea.

∙ 13y agoNo, you need to have a separate contact lens prescription. The doctor has to prescribe the specific brand that fits best to your eye. Every brand of contact has a different base curve, diameter, and breathable material that the doctor takes into account when prescribing them for you.

∙ 14y agoNo. The diopter value (strength) of the lens might be the same, but contact lens prescriptions also include a base curve to match the shape of the individual eyeball, and also possibly a lens diameter.

I work for Contact Lens King an online retailer of contact lenses. There are ways to convert the prescription but your ECP will be the one to do it for you. It is not as simple as saying -250 will be -250. Remember the contact lens sits on your eye. Eyeglasses are up to 10cm from your eye. Call your ECP(eye care professional) and they should be able to do this for you.

So, as helpful as this answer is and all, could I get an elaborated answer? My contact prescription is -2.75 and -3.00, its straight forward with no other problems. Should glasses be okay with the same prescription?

∙ 12y agoNo. Contacts stick to your eye, and glasses lenses are an inch from your eye, so the powers are going to be different. My contact prescription is -6 and my glasses prescription is -7.25--a substantial difference.
