Hi My Name Is Emma,I love animals so much and I was wondering wether you have to be a certain age-im not sure on what the age is, and I would love to work with animals-I think I might be quite good at it.

∙ 13y agoAlas no - I've wanted to too, as I am also 13, but you have to be 16, I think, to volunteer for the cleaning of the kennels/Cattery and to have your feet featured on the website with a beautiful dog, and at least 18 to walk the dogs or help with the puppies and horses :(
Although if you can get a Contact in a particular Centre you may be able to do a bit - however it is probably illegal, so I wouldn't try it...
I donate money though.

∙ 12y agoSorry, but no. However, you can work in a branch of RSPCA where occasionally with a parents help, you can come in for a few hours or so, and play with the animals! At least that's what they did for me when I was 12!

∙ 14y agoI don't think a 13-year-old is old enough! But if you go to your local R.S.P.C.A they might let you walk the dogs there. Good luck and keep helping the animals. They need our help!
Also if you do Duke of Edinburgh you can volunteer at the R.S.P.C.A when you are 13 or above but to otherwise volunteer you need to be over 16 (i think)! :)

Usually to volunteer at any animal shelter by yourself you must be 16 years of age. However some shelters will allow younger participants, as young as age 12, to volunteer as long as they have an adult 18 or older to volunteer along with them.

An eleven year old can not have a job. Child Labor Laws prevent it. They may be able to volunteer, check at your local RSPCA office.

They can come round to your school and teach you about dealing with dogs in different situations, such as if a dog barks at you. i have had a lot of experience with dogs, and my dog usually barks to protect me, and because she is a rescue dog, she has had bad experience with runnung children. So when they bark, I know that they will most probably not hurt me, i ignore them, but slow down if i am running.
