The legal guardian of the minor child would be able to collect SS Survivor benefits and quite likely additional support from the surviving parent. The child themselves would not receive the support directly unless he or she is 19 years of age, unmarriedand still in high school. If a child becomes disabled before he or she reaches the age of 22 they may still be able to receive survivor benefits until qualifying for SSI.
Unless they changed it again since the early 1980s, survivor benefits are administered on behalf of the dependent of the deceased, and directly to the dependent after he/she reaches age 18, as long as he/she remains a full-time student, but only until age 19. Previously it was until age 22.
my dad died when i was 15 and i get it till 18 and if i go to college i don't get it. just till im 18. that's what ssi told me
Until age 18
Unless there was a lien on the assets, you're probably out of luck. However, the child might be eligible for RSDI (Social Security) based on the deceased parent's earnings.
The living parent may still be ordered to pay support. Why doesn't the living parent have custody? see link below
The guardian gets the child support, but the child can receive social security on behalf of the deceased parent until they are 18.
Eighteen.
Not applicable. You will receive nothing more than the normal amount for a child of a deceased parent.
Hopefully, there is insurance or other funds in the will designated for the child. Of course, the child will be eligible for social security benefits if the parent worked.
yes the children with deceased parents get social security benefit's. but only if the parents were workers in the US.

In the US, a dependent child of a deceased parent may be eligible for assistance from Social Security. Check with your local Social Security office.
No, you can not collect child support if the absent parent collects ssi. No matter what state you are in, anywhere in the united states. It's against the law!
For a minor child (under age 18) to collect Social Security, the child's parents must be eligible for Social Security. This generally occurs when the parent(s) become 62 or "permanently and totally disabled" as defined by Social Security.
Only if the obligee parent releases the claim or is deceased.
