A four year old can NOT sit in the front of any vehicle not to mention a pickup truck.

If a four year old was in the front seat of a pickup and you crashed the air bag will deploy. Air bags can break the ribs of a fully developed adult, imagine what it can do to a four year old! Please, DO NOT LET YOUR FOUR YEAR OLD, OR ANY CHILD WHO HAS NOT FULLY DEVELOPED YET SIT IN THE FRONT OF ANY VEHICLE.

Depends really because in an accident the five year old could be crushed. i think its your opinion but i would advise him to sit at the back.

You will also need to check with your local police or traffic authorities to learn what legislation affects children travelling in motor vehicles. They will also be able to advise you on safety issues regarding children's seating while traveling.

Yes as long as the airbag is turned off. It is perfectly safe. The only reason the back seat is recommended is to make it habit for people as most cars can not turn off the airbag. If you can turn it off there is no reason why it would be less safe in a single bench.

Can a child sit in front seat of a pick up truck in the state of Illinois?

I cannot answer the question for the state of Illinois; however, most states are similar and it would be best to call your local police department (preferably the state police). Indiana allows toddlers to be in the cab of a pickup as long as they are in a child seat or booster seat (depending on the size and age of the child).

Never place a child passenger in the front seat of any vehicle. True or False?

It doesn't tend to be illegal (of course that varies by state/country) but in the event of a collision, the child would be much safer in the back seat than in the front. Under no circumstances should a child in a rear facing booster seat be placed in the front seat as if the airbags deploy, the child will probably be killed.

Can a child use a booster seat in the front seat of a car?

no Only if the front airbag can be deactivated - this does not mean it is allowed in every state - some states have laws that mandate the child should be in the back seat until they weigh 85 lbs or are 14 years old -

In Illinois when can a child sit in the front seat of a car?

In the state of Illinois, a child must remain in the back seat until age 12. Even then it is not recommended that they ride in the front seat because they could be seriously injured or killed if the air bag opened.

The impact of a deploying air bag striking a rear-facing child seat could result in severe injury or death to the child?

An air bag can severely injure of kill a young child if they are not old or big enough to be sitting in the front seat. Car seat safety varies by state, but once the child outgrows a booster seat, he or she is permitted to ride in the front seat with a seat belt around the age of 13.
