State laws regulate the policies of all insurance companies. The law would stipulate how notice is given but it is also in the policy. Individual life insurance policies cannot be cancelled for any other reason than non-payment after the "non-contestible" period which is usually 2 years. During this period the policy can be cancelled by the company only for misrepresentation (lying) on the application or suicide and done at the death of an insured but is very rare. I've only had one of these in my career and all premiums paid are returned with interest. After 2 years they pay even for suicide cases or lying on the application. In the case of non-payment, at least 2 notices are sent to the insured before cancellation with plenty of notice and at least 2-3 chances to reinstate the policy after cancellation. It costs insurance companies to issue policies and they would much rather retain the policyholders than issue new ones. The only cases of someone truly not getting notification may be if they move or change their address forgot to notify the company. Even in these cases the Agent would make every effort to contact the policyholder as it effects commissions, bonuses, and is just good business. As a matter of full disclosure, I own and operate a small Independent Insurance Agency in Georgia and have for 22 years. I also was an agent for a direct writer insurance company for 3 years prior.
How can you find out if life insurance has been taken out in your name with or without your knowledge.?
No, Not legally. you must get her signature on the application.
Although you can buy a life insurance policy on your uncle if you have a legitimate insurable interest, the insured is normally required to complete an application.
Your husband cannot legally obtain life insurance on you without your knowledge. And most companies require at least a cursory physical before agreeing to insure someone.
It is not possible to take out insurance on a person with their knowledge. The insured must answer all underwriting questions and sign the application as well. The only case where this would not be true is if the insurance is being taken out on your minor child.
Yes,life insurance can be obtained by any one for anyone. Its kinda sad.
No. To the best of my knowledge, veteran's life insurance has no cash value.
Confidential Life Insurance protects a Third Party for their financial loss in the event of the death of an Insured Person. It must be placed without the knowledge of the Insured Person and as a consequence involves minimal underwriting
No you may not. The insured must sign the application and in most cases be subject to a paramed exam based on the amount of insurance requested. The one exception to this rule is an individual may purchase some life insurance thru work (if available) up to a certain limit for their family members without their signatures or knowledge. People buy life insurance for 3 reasons. Love, character or a divorce decree. If your spouse is a person of character and if he/she loves you, they will sign on the dotted line. 4lifeguild
No. You must have the signature of the insured person.
Is the child willing to sign the application and take the physical? I don't see why not.
Yes, with your parent's knowledge and consent.
