How soon can you see twins on ultrasound?

To see twins, it depends what kind of twins you are having. Faternal twins (Two (2)separate eggs that are both fertalized) can be seen on your first ultrasound, as early as 6 weeks or 4 week if your doctor orders a vaginal ultrasound. Identical twins (One (1) egg that has been fertalized by one sperm, but decides to make 2 babies) can be seen when the fetal pole is present which shows as early as 9 weeks. Not mornally. They are so small at that point that you really need to wait until they are bigger. Even then, they love to hide behind one another. :)

okay well i will have to disagree with the answer above!! i had an ultrasound done at 6 weeks and twins were detected. now should you go with it? probably not because there is a pretty high chance you will miscarry one! also known as the Vanishing Twin Syndrome....but yes! you can!

hey,i had a sono today and im 5 weeks,i went to the doctor for a bladder infection and he said well while your here ill go a head and check you so he ordered a sono because he said i was measuring big and he thought it could be twins....:/WELL, there was only one sac but he said it could split and be twins!! but ya you can see two sacs if its twins!!! or if twins share a sac it will have two yoks.....

Although i am no doctor, i had an ultrasound at 5 wks ( to confirm dates) and was told definitively the was only 1 baby b/c there was only 1 amniotic sac. I have a coworker who had an eary untrasound (again to confirm dates) and was told there were 2 babies w 2 amniotic sacs. Hope this helps! Good Luck! 5 Weeks

Twins I am not a doctor but I had an ultrasound at 5 weeks and for sure saw two sacks. At the time they thought one of them was empty but thankfully it was not, I found out the next week. Now, I have two beauiful twin daughters, so yes you can see them at 5 weeks.

I knew I was pregnant within 3 days, because of nauseousness and vomiting. Blood work confirmed pregnancy and the blood work said I was in my second trimester, which was impossible, I had been single for 2 years. At 5 days I had an ultrasound to see why the blood work had such a high count of cells, and it was because there was 2 little tiny dots, the size of a pin head, the ultrasound lady told me there was 2, not the doctor.

I wouldn't think so! I just had a 10 week with twins and they're pretty big and everything was distinguishable parts wise, so as long as you have a competent tech I would think youre ok
