A Canadian can drive across the U.S. border using one of several documents. It does not have to be a passport. Any of the following will suffice; passport, U.S. passport card, trusted traveler card, or enhanced driver's license.

Some of these rules have changed recently about traveling to Canada. At one time a passport was not needed for American Citizen to enter and travel there but new laws from Homeland Security has changed that. In either case, it would be a good idea to take a passport.

Can canadians fly in Canada without a passport?

Canadians can only travel with the country of Canada without a valid passport. A valid passport or a valid permanent resident card are the two acceptable forms of documentation to re-enter Canada without issue.

Do you need a passport when you fly within Canada?

You need a passport to cross from America to Canada. While inside Canada, you don't need your passport, except for ID purposes.

What are the air travel requirements WITHIN the US States for a Canadian citizen who has already entered the USA with a valid Canadian passport through land for a visit?

There are no requirements for Canadians traveling in the US just as US citizens don't need a passport to go to Canada although that is changing. Once you enter the US, you have met all the requirements according the US Border Control and the INS. You can travel freely just as any US citizen could. Of course for flying you would need some type of government ID just as a US citizen would to board a flight.

Do you need a passport to travel within canada?

I'm Canadian, and yes, it's adviseable to not only have your passport, but birth certificate and anyone else who is traveling with you (including children) should as well. We have to do the same thing going across to the States and it doesn't really bother us at all. Legally you can cross into Canada from the US with just proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate or naturalization papers. A passport will be required for all US citizens after Dec. 31, 2007. You should also have proof of US citizenship for all children, and written permission if they are not accompanied by both parents. A driver's license and social security card or other picture ID is NOT proof of citizenship. By all means, if you have a passport, take it.

Does a Canadian citizen with a Green Card who lives in the US have a place to go in the U.S. to apply for a Canadian passport?

Canadians traveling to CanadaFirst off, no Canadian can get a US Passport. Second of all, Canadians don't need a passport to enterCanada but do need a passport to return to the US.I just got off the phone with the L.A. consular office on this very topic, so here is the best answer as of 11/06/08. At this time Canada does not have a Passport policy for admission to the Country so in lieu of a passport your Permanent Resident Card is sufficient for entry. Depending on the individual Port of Entry, you may have to provide further photo I.D. with signature as verification of identity (i.e. State issued driver's license). To re-enter the U.S. the only document you will need is your permanent resident card. While it is advisable to maintain a valid Canadian Passport in order to simplify border crossings, not having one is not a barrier to entry. In fact, an expired Passport can be used as a supporting identity document within one year of expiry. It is true that a non-U.S. citizen cannot receive a U.S. Passport, however your Permanent Resident Card performs the same functions as a Passport when travelling. If you are travelling on a Permanent Resident Card then you have no other required documents to re-enter the U.S. For a printable page of document requirements, please go herehttp://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacation/ready_set_go/air_travel/As some gate attendants may be unaware that a PRC is sufficient to board an airplane, keeping a copy of this page with you may make things simpler.I hope this all helps, this topic can be very confusing and stressful! As a Canadian citizen if you wish to apply for a Canadian passport from the US you just have to go to http://www.ppt.gc.ca/cdn/form.aspx?lang=eng&region=USA and fill out the online form. There is no place in the US to apply for a passport. The application must be mailed in or you can have an acceptable third party take it into a Canadian passport office.

If you are from the UK, then you do not need a passport to enter the Republic of Ireland, as they are within what's known as the "common British travel area" - allowing citizens of the British Isles to travel freely within the areas. However RyanAir may require a passport to prove that you are a UK citizen. Your best bet is to call RyanAir customer service and ask them.
